My hula bio:
I am a long time hula dancer (40 years+). I’ve studied the hula under Kanani Kalama and now under Frank Kawaikapuokalani Hewett. I have participated in many hula competitions, including the Merrie Monarch Hula Competition. I placed first in a solo hula competition in Irvine, California. I have traveled to Japan many times to perform at concerts with Kumu Kawaikapu. I have been teaching a small halau in Gunma Prefecture for the past 15 years.
Classes I offer:
- Solo lessons (all ages)
- Prep dancers for hula competitions in Japan
- Group lessons For groups, I recommend no more than 12 dancers at a time.
- Auana, kahiko, how to pa’i or hit the ipu, pronunciation of Hawaiian words, Oli.

Rates are hourly, depending on what you want to learn - base rate is $50 per hour. I offer discounts for longer lessons.
Payments are accepted via Apple Pay or PayPal in advance of lessons.
